Grades score A1 = 1 through F9 = 9, so a perfect aggregate is 6.
Credits matter separately from the aggregate
6 — C6 — is the lowest grade that counts as a credit pass. Public universities want six credit passes including the core subjects. A good aggregate does not help if Core Mathematics is a D7.
The general cut-off for a public university is aggregate 24 or better. Competitive programmes cut off far lower — medicine, law, pharmacy and engineering are often in single figures.
An aggregate outside the cut-off is not the end
A resit, a technical university, an access or mature-student route, or a private university are all real paths, and Ghanaian employers care much less about which university than students expect.
