What Accra says
Every district
A district's answers appear once it has 10 votes. Turnout is per 100,000 residents, from the 2021 census, so a small district is not drowned out by a big one.

How Accra Pulse works
Only from inside Greater Accra
Before your first vote, your phone is asked where it is. That position is checked against the outlines of Greater Accra's 29 district assemblies, once, and used for nothing else: it is not stored, not logged and not sent anywhere but here. What comes back is your district, for 7 days. A connection from outside Ghana is refused, VPNs included.
Counted where you are, not where you live
Your vote counts in the district your phone was in when you checked in. Vote from the office and it counts where the office is. Check in again from somewhere else and change your vote, and it moves with you.
One vote a phone, and you can change it
Your browser keeps a random code that lets this site recognise a second vote from the same phone as a change, not a new vote. Nothing ties it to you. While a question is open you can change your answer - up to 5 times.
Nothing shown from a handful of votes
A district's answers appear on the map only once it has 10 votes, and Accra's once the city does. Below that the map says how many more it needs. A share of three votes is noise, and in a small district it could say how one person voted.
Who voted, not what Accra thinks
This is not a survey. Nobody chose who answers: the people who answer are the people who found the question and cared to. Read it as the pulse of those who showed up, and look at the vote counts beside every share.
It can be fooled
A determined person can fake where their phone is, or vote from several browsers. The checks keep out most people who are not here and most accidental double votes; they cannot stop someone set on cheating. A district whose numbers jump overnight is worth reading with that in mind.
Individual votes are deleted 30 days after a question closes; the totals stay. The details are in the terms.
