The Office of the Registrar of Companies, which administers business registration under the Companies Act 2019 (Act 992).
It handles:
- Business names for sole proprietors — cheap, quick, renewed annually
- Companies limited by shares — separate legal personality, limited liability, more filing
- Companies limited by guarantee — NGOs, churches, associations
- Partnerships and external companies
Registration requires a Ghana Card for every director and shareholder, and a GhanaPostGPS digital address for the registered office.
It was formerly part of the Registrar General’s Department, which is what many people still call it.
