Ghana’s national digital addressing system. Every five-by-five metre square in the country has a code that looks like GA-183-4567.
- GA is the region and district
- 183 is the postcode area
- 4567 is the specific grid square
It exists because conventional addressing does not work in Ghana. Streets are named inconsistently, house numbers are sparse, and everyone navigates by landmark.
Banks, the NIA, the ORC, utilities and couriers all ask for it.
